Senior Photos

Senior year is hands down the best part of grade school. You’re finally the top dog, most of your classes are a breeze, and you know exactly how to run things… just in time to be hurled into something completely new after you graduate. The feeling of freedom is one that you’ll remember for a lifetime and the memories you make will stick with you forever. Senior photos are the ultimate way to capture the moment and a testament to the adult you have grown into. Plus, you’re going to need some content for those grad party invites of yours!

Showing Your True Colors

Planning out your shoot should be a fun and creative process. It’s one of the first times that everything is all about you, so use that to your advantage! You have complete control over the look and feel of your images. Look at some inspiration or brainstorm with your photographer to come up with a couple of different concepts. To make it unique to you, think about some things that are near to your heart. Are you a small town type of person who loves being outdoors? Or do you prefer urban areas with artsy elements? Do you take pride in your sense of fashion or your very first car? If so, this is a great time to incorporate components such as these. It’s also a good idea to showcase any extracurricular activities that you participate in. Sports, theatre and exclusive academic clubs are all accomplishments that you ought to be proud of! Once you’ve decided on the vibe that you want to create, it’s time to get down to specifics.

Location

Choosing good locations is super important because the setting of your photos makes all the difference to how they turn out! Whether it’s an open field shot at sunset or a downtown scene that includes a lot of color, your surroundings will tell a story about you.

Wardrobe and Accessories

Perhaps one of the most crucial parts of a senior photoshoot is what you wear. You want to select something that shows you as a mature young adult, but at the same time reflects your personality. You’ll probably be doing a few different looks, so don’t be afraid to get creative and play around with some personas. Choosing flattering colors that match your environment is a good place to start. If you’re outdoors, you may want to go with more neutral and earthy tones that fit into the color scheme. If you’re shooting in a sharper location, like on a backdrop or a brick wall, that’s the ideal time to get a little more dynamic with your outfits. Maybe you want to do one set in your athletic jersey, in which case you can include sports accessories like balls and gloves.

Bringing Things to Life

The main goal of taking these photos is to capture who you authentically are. If you’ve created image concepts that accurately reflect your character, this part should be easy! All you have to do is be natural and let your true self shine. Make sure you go with a photographer who shares your vision and wants to bring out the best in you. It’s important that you choose someone who values your ideas and makes you feel comfortable because this will totally reflect in your pictures! Remember, this is your shoot and it should absolutely be directed the way that you want it to be! There’s no better way to make your introduction into the real world.
