Blue Tie

Blue Tie

You know I am photographer for local events and small businesses. Lots of non-profit events. The great part is getting to see all the people in the community who help keep these non-profits run smoothly. Great to see in action.

This year marked the 25th anniversary of the KidsFirst Blue Tie Affair.  Everyone came out decked in their best blue ties. Well, some were anything but the best, but I guess that is part of the point. To help support a huge campaign to stop child abuse and neglect across the community and in the state.

This year, an incredible $45,000.00 was raised for all the KidsFirst programs. This money will go to help families and children in the Sacramento region. Many who have tirelessly given their time, money and energy for the programs were given plaques as a way to say thanks for their dedication to children.

Rob Stewart, from Rob on the Road, was the emcee for the lunch and raffle.  His enthusiasm and approached helped to really rake in the dollars for the program.

One of the best parts of the entire day and affair was the Vice President of the student body of St. Albans Country Day School, Brynne Burrows. She spoke on how the school has chosen KidsFirst as the charity for the school’s annual campaign.

Others who attended helped create a community time capsule for children in the future.  Words, symbols and more were inscribed on canvas.  Douglas Kleinsmith, a local artist, finished the piece for the capsule.

Overall, it was a great time and again why I believe in giving back to the local community and memorialize events on film.
