Elite Athletics
It is such an honor for me to be a part of any special program or fundraiser, particularly if it benefits my hometown of Roseville, California. Recently, I attended the Elite Athletics facility where a fundraiser was taking place for Special Olympics.
There were several professional athletes there to speak on their experiences and what motivates them to preserver and to participate as well. Famous names such as Steve Sax, Jerry Manuel, Jim Barr, and Olympic Gold Medalist pitcher Michele Granger all came out to give a presentation and help with this worthy group of young athletes.
My favorite part of the whole event was was the pleasure on the faces of the young athletes. The building was full of excitement at the opportunity to meet and chat with the athletes and hear their encouraging words. I learned so much about the mindset that goes hand in hand with training and nutrition. Granger explained her tuning every distraction in the world out and focusing on her goal to get to the gold and that really resonates with me in my own career.
Several corporations donated money and supplies to the Special Olympics of Northern California program. Eric Berger and Kohl’s Associates in Action participated with 5 volunteers from the Antelope Kohl’s and Kohl’s gave a $500 donation to Special Olympics for their participation.
A special shout out to Gary Brown and Faye Brewster – co-owners. They worked hard and up to the opening for donations for the silent auction and raffle. They even had their son at the event and giving tours to show all the uses of the facility. The rest of the public had the opportunity to tour the facility and participate in batting cage practice and using the fitness equipment. It is one of the finest in Roseville, if not the entire Northern California area targeted especially for pro athletes.
This was one of the greatest opportunities I have had to showcase my talents as a professional photographer and I look forward to photographing more events like this one in the future.
