Wedding Photography

I had previously attended a photo shoot for Dennis and Rhonda’s engagement announcement, so when I got the call to do their wedding photography too I was absolutely thrilled. Weddings are some of my favorite events because they represent the perfect place to get some of the best off-the-cuff wedding photography.

The happy couple had some very pretty thank you cards and invitations on show. They thought that taking a picture of them would last longer than a paper copy – and they were absolutely right! One of the most important things of wedding photography is to preserve the memories you have of the big day – so I capture everything I can.

The Newlyweds also had these lovely notes for each guest. The notes encourage the couple to try out new things together by contributing to their Bucket List. What a brilliant idea!

Some of the best pictures from the day were taken in the early afternoon, after the ceremony and out in the gardens. What I love most about these photographs is that they are outside with the greenery in the background, very similarly to how we took their Engagement photo shoot.

This particular photograph happened like magic. I had gone in for a tighter frame but hadn’t told them yet, and the pose just kind of happened by itself. The bouquet brings it all together for this image, picking the natural greenery of the foliage in the background out in the shot.

There were ample opportunities throughout the fabulous ceremony for me to catch a few moments when the bride and groom weren’t paying attention. Sometimes the shot is blurred or off-center; but this time I got just the right moment. You can see how in love they are by how they behave when the camera isn’t on them… one of my very favorite things about photography.

Another purpose of good wedding photography is to capture all those little moments of memory in real time so that the newlyweds can look back and laugh over the years to come. I was privileged enough to catch one of those moments on camera, and I hope the two treasure it forever!

Once the hilarity had calmed; it was time to get on with those vows! The serious business of getting married was why we were all there, after all! The light was starting to hit perfectly just as they reached the alter, creating this stunning shot for their wedding photography.

When the two had finally become Mr and Mrs it was time to celebrate! I think this shot, just as they realized the day had been a success, says everything I can’t.

We were getting some pretty strong and low sun towards the end of the afternoon, so I had everyone keep their backs to it to get the lighting just right for the group shots. The gardens were beautiful, the bridal party looked splendid…they really did have a perfect day for it.

Another part of the reason I love wedding photography so much is the smiles! Everyone is just so genuinely happy and full of love and laughter. You can’t beat that wonderful, vibrant atmosphere created by a couple starting their life together. Rhonda and Dennis were no exception to the rule, and provided a fantastic event to celebrate that love in style!

Congratulations Dennis and Rhonda, may your years together be long and happy!
