Floral Botanical Photo Shoot
Every once in a while I get called out to do something a little different, and the Floral Botanical Photo Shoot was just one such job. Our model wanted some variety shots in a garden, and I really wanted to mingle nature photography with the human element… so we got together and created some pretty stunning pictures.

As you can see the model looked fantastic when I arrived, so I had very little work to do other than point and shoot. The day wasn’t the brightest but sometimes that works out better because you don’t have to constantly fight with the position of the sun. It wasn’t dull either, so we got to work with this striking image.

This angle gave the model a chance to show her ability to show off footwear, while also adding a little attitude. The bursts of color in the background really compliment the floral feel of the dress. It’s refreshing, like iced tea on a hot day.

Every model photo shoot needs a close up of the face; and here she is, showing what a slight movement of the shoulder can do to make an image pop. She really is the star of this one…My only regret is that you can’t see both of her eyes.

Modeling is all about the clothes – and I was all about the bright bouquet in the background. It seems to extend and lengthen her even more in this image. The light was just hitting right for the first time all day so I went on a roll.

We played around with a few different chair poses. This one makes her seem like she has a secret to tell. The umbrella made an interesting prop but truthfully I thought it would rain. I can’t get enough of the different shades of red from this angle.

Since this was the Floral Botanical photo shoot we needed to get a few shots that had a more ethereal feel to them. I asked the model if she would move around the space to give that delicate feel – but its her expression that steals the show.

This, more sensual, image, happened by happy accident. We were talking about imagining this was her own garden, and she were the Queen of the Castle. You can see how regal she feels in her expression; and there is the lovely matching color in her dress to the flowers, as well.

I love the idea of photo shoots in the trees. They offer such wonderful natural shapes and dimensions that can either add to the attitude or soften a shot right up.

We returned to the sort of dream-it’s-your-garden theme for a while and played around. She’s so warm and inviting in this one…and so is the blossom.

This model is particularly good at making you think that she has a secret to share. That bold, bright, yellow in the background gives a colorful explosion of fun to this image.

This was the last shot I got before the heavens opened and the rain came down. You can almost feel the humidity in the breeze. There was something earthy about being down in the grass in her bare feet… It made for a gorgeous shot – and the perfect end to a perfect photo shoot!
