Senior Portraits – Natalie and Her Dog

Senior Portraits – Natalie and Her Dogsenior pictures dog

Portraits with animals are one of my favorite kinds of shoots. Not only do I get to spend time with a whole new pet (I can’t help it, I love animals!) but it’s much easier to get relaxed photos of someone when their concentration is focused largely on what their pet is doing. It’s always a fun and happy experience doing a photo shoot with animals involved and Natalie and her dog is definitely one of my favorites of all time.

As you can see from the pictures Natalie is a really easy going girl and not only is she absolutely stunning but spending time with her is a real delight. I think it comes across in the pictures how much I enjoyed the shoot with her and how much I tried to capture her essence in doing this. Of course having her little fur buddy just made the entire experience that little bit easier for everyone.

Now I understand how important senior portraits are and getting the perfect shot is absolutely key. After all, you want to look great in your yearbook, that is going to stand the test of time and will be how a lot of people remember you in years to come! When I was working with Natalie my biggest aim was to allow her personality to shine through the page and really stand out from the crowd.

One of the biggest things that I wanted to push through on this photo shoot was just how naturally pure and beautiful Natalie is and I think we succeeded in this by clever use of the outdoor settings. Using natural lighting and soft colors has given the images the atmosphere that I was going for but through positioning I’ve been able to make sure Natalie is dominant in these pictures. A friendly face with a powerful voice, these images are perfect for summing Natalie up.

I can’t deny how much I love animals and her little dog was a joy to have in these pictures. One of the best things about using pets in photo shoots is the subject of the photos relaxes a lot more than without. It’s perfectly natural to clam up when there’s a camera pointing at you and as a professional photographer it’s my job to put you at ease. I take pride in the fact that I am really good at my job but that doesn’t mean it’s not much easier with a pet around!

Working with Natalie and her dog was a great experience and being able to shoot her senior portrait was truly an honor. I’m so pleased that I was able to capture how much fun we had on the shoot and how much of a lively and beautiful soul Natalie is. I think Senior portraits are fast becoming one of my favorite shoots to do!
