Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1487 Awards Ceremony

The last two generations have been very lucky because neither has been required to fight in a war excepting those who volunteered for duty.VFW

The VFW, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1487, recently held an event for those who work diligently in the Roseville community.  Supporting the city’s unsung heroes, the first responders and police, the VFW handed out their Voice of Democracy Awards to several of Roseville’s finest and bravest.

There were awards for Scout of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Police Officer of the Year, Fireman of the Year, and Paramedic of the Year.

The picture I am particularly proud of and glad to have shot was Placer County Sheriff Ed Bonner awarding his son the Police Officer of the Year award.

Besides the awards, the Ladies Auxiliary of the event took care of all of the meal and decorating.

The VFW stands besides it’s ethos of citizenship and patriotism for all.  A special program for youth grades 9-12 is also a great chance for students to win an impressive scholarship and a trip to Washington, D.C.

Anytime I can be with a group so devoted to causes I am glad to help out and be a part of it.  This particular event was no different than any other.  I am so glad that I can use my photography talent to help promote the VFW and all that it stands for.

This is only one such event I plan on covering this year.  You can expect to see more of this and similar as I continue to work in my hometown.
