Wedding – Chay and Lila

MARYSVILLE CA

I always love photographing a wedding but being part of Chay and Lila’s big day was one of the best I’ve ever done. There’s something about taking part in a wedding where the bride and groom want to have fun both on the day and in the pictures and that’s exactly what these guys did. As well as the usual pictures of the bride and groom with various family members they asked for a few candid shots that, as a photographer, I absolutely adore taking photos of subjects that just want to have fun!

The great thing about doing the pictures for Chay and Lila is that they were so natural as subjects go and it allowed their love for one another to shine through. Taking photos for them was beyond a pleasure as not only were they completely in love but they were so willing to try anything that they definitely are a photographer’s dream couple!

St Joseph’s Church was a fitting venue for the big day as it is as beautiful and pure as Chay and Lila’s love. I loved working in the architecture of this stunning building and incorporating it into the finished pieces but what I loved even more was spending time outside with the happy couple, soaking up the sunshine and having a relaxed hour.

I was so pleased when I first laid eyes on Lila in her dress to see her beautiful veil. There is something innately romantic about wedding photographs between the bride and groom where the bride is wearing a veil. You can see from the photographs that I took how much I love having a veil to work with as it adds such a beautiful dynamic to the pictures, really bringing them to life. What is so wonderful about using a veil is they show movement much better than any other part of the brides outfit and this means it’s relatively easy to get some great, flowing pictures without it looking out of place.

The one thing that I loved working on with Chay and Lila’s pictures was the beautiful colors that pop out of the screen, drawing your attention in. With the pureness of the dress contrasting the deep red of the bouquet and the bright greens in the background, these pictures are absolutely full of happiness from the moment you set eyes on them. Bright colors and a loving couple make for the best kinds of wedding photos.

I don’t think I’m alone in the photography world when I say that shooting weddings is a whole different kettle of fish compared to anything else but it’s a challenge that I just relish. No two weddings are ever the same and it means that no to shoots are ever the same. Chay and Lila are such beautiful people inside and out that capturing their love and their essence was a real honor.
